How I work

I work with both short term and long term concerns. My work can be down-to-earth and practical or deeper and more nuanced and layered, and/or a mix of the two.  My approach is highly collaborative and transparent and I encourage clients to share in deciding on the direction of our work.

I bring stories, examples, ideas, and metaphor to my work and clients tell me this helps them to see new perspectives and to engage more readily with alternate interpretations. When exploring dreams together, I adopt a creative 'brainstorming' style and clients report appreciating this lively approach. I offer art, sand tray, and two chair work and I regularly design personalized interventions and handouts based on the more prescriptive parts of some modalities.

Nature, the body, art, literature, music, cultural history and myth inform my deeper work with clients in the realms of trauma, life’s end, existential anguish, dreams, and meaning-making.

Clients often tell me how surprised they are to feel as comfortable as they do given the depth of our work.

Perhaps this is partly due to my commitment to protect both the therapeutic space and the therapeutic process.
